5 Innovative Logo Design Trends to Watch in 2022

One of our favorite things to do at the end of the year is to think about what will happen in the next year. And one of our favorite ways to do that is to look at the logo design trends that are gaining popularity and getting ready to take over by Video Production Services and other agencies in the new year.

So, we asked our group of designers from all over the world what they thought would be popular in logo design in 2022. Last year, there were a lot of logos that played with the idea of being creative even when there were limits. In 2022, logos will be bolder and less limited. These logos will be made for a world that has learned to live with a global pandemic; as we move further, these designs will shape and define the look of the decade.

Let’s check what the 5 innovative logo design trends we will watch in 2022 are:

1.    Retro Rubber Hose Logos

You’ve seen pictures of rubber hoses. You’ve seen rubber hose animation if you’ve ever played Cuphead or Bendy or if you’ve watched a cartoon from the 1920s or 1930s. And you will see it a lot more in 2022 in logos!

Maybe the rubber hose look is coming back because it’s been around for almost a century. Or maybe because this style is good for characters, and character logos are a way for brands to feel more personal and human. In any case, the logos for rubber hoses in 2022 are colorful, which is different from the black-and-white cartoons of the past.

By giving these characters color, designers can use brand color palettes and make this style feel new and modern. Almost all of them aren’t human either, which gives them a whimsical and fun feel.

2.    Letters That Are Long and Run Together

In 2022, logo design trends will show a lot more distortions of all kinds, not just blurred logos. Designers are also experimenting with stretching and continuous lettering to make things look and feel like they have no end or boundaries.

As you can see, logos have curves. For others, only some of the letters are stretched, while the rest stay the same size. This draws attention to the letters that are stretched.

3.    Badly Drawn Logos

It is expected that the text on a logo will be legible, right?

By 2022, when designers are more likely to experiment with blur effects to highlight fluidity and movement than simply making things easy to read, this will no longer be as relevant.

You could only blur the edges of the letters, and the meaning of the word would still be perfectly understandable. If you don’t want to do that, you can give the reader more information about your brand identity by combining the muddled version of the logo with a version of the brand name that is legible.

The addition of a blur effect to your company’s logo will make it more intriguing and simple to recall.

When a letter in a logo is stretched or distorted to make it stand out, the same letter or sound is frequently emphasized when the name of the logo is said aloud. This is because the letter or sound is being highlighted in the logo itself. Altering the form of the letters that make up a logo is another option for conveying information about the primary product or service offered by a business.

4.    Writing and Drawing

Some logo designers are evoking simpler times by using styles from the past, but others are going in a different direction: they are using shaky, scribbled, childlike art.

Expect to see more writing in 2022. Expect to see more logos that look rough and unfinished, as opposed to the logos of the past few years that were cleaner and more “produced.” This style is rough but also elegant and simple. And for a world that wants to get rid of all the problems of the past and move on to a brighter future, simplicity is just what the doctor ordered.

5.    Trying Out Different Line Widths

These logos remain consistent with their respective brands in both good and bad times. In the year 2022, you may anticipate seeing a lot of logos with lines of varying widths. Playing with the balance in this manner allows designers to add more layers of depth and complexity to their creations.

When it comes to fonts, letters are often either thin or thick, depending on the font. When they aren’t, their weight shifts in places that are logically consistent with the alteration. As designers push the boundaries and create new concepts. They abandon traditional guidelines and experiment with unrestricted lines, strokes, and shapes.

This could be a reaction to how limited many of us have felt in recent years, or it could be because 2022 logo design trends are so focused on fonts that designers should play with text. Either way, it seems likely that designers will look for ways to play with text in the coming years.

There will be a lot of nostalgia for a lot of different times and styles of art. When you’re looking for designs for your next logo, look to the past. Consider what has worked in the past and how it made people feel. Then, find a way to rethink it for 2022. This could mean stretching, blurring, animating, or just giving it a new set of colors.
